OUR HISTORY
Discover the History of the Georgia Perinatal Association
The Georgia Perinatal Association (GPA) has been a driving force in improving maternal and infant health since its founding in 1977. Emerging during a time of rapid innovation in high-risk obstetrics, GPA united professionals across disciplines to advance education, research, and care for mothers and newborns in Georgia. From helping regionalize perinatal services and strengthening Medicaid coverage to promoting newborn screening and professional training, GPA’s leadership has shaped the state’s perinatal landscape for nearly five decades—continuing its mission to ensure healthier beginnings for Georgia’s families.
OUR MISSION
Building on a legacy that began in the 1970s with Georgia’s early efforts to improve maternal and infant care, the Georgia Perinatal Association (GPA) continues to unite health care professionals dedicated to advancing perinatal health.
